“Underground Images: School of Visual Arts Subway Posters, 1947 to the Present”

“Underground Images” is a selection of 52 posters from the SVA Archives. This exhibition represents a concise sampling of the myriad posters created at the School of Visual Arts for display in the vast New York City subway system.
Arranged by decade this collection offers a glimpse of the College’s history and the array of its innovative design and illustration faculty. SVA initiated its subway campaign as an advertising and recruiting vehicle. Placed where millions of subway commuters see them every day, the posters have consistently produced a stream of inquiries and applications to study at the College.
The SVA subway posters serve to remind the public, even for a fleeting moment on the way to work, the importance of creativity and risk taking to leading a full life.

“Views-Sarajevo 1914-2014”

Sarajevo 100 is an international invitational poster action organized by ULUPUBIH (The Association of Applied Artists and Designers of Bosnia & Herzegovina), ALU Sarajevo (The Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo), and the Department of Art and Design of Missouri State University.
In the light of the centennial anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, 30th anniversary of the 14th Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, and in memory of 1992–95 war and siege of Sarajevo, fifty internationally recognized and fifty emerging designers are invited to contribute with their personal creative points of view to the assigned theme – Sarajevo 100.
At the same time, 100 designers from older and younger generations of all regions of former Yugoslavia were also invited to participate with their creations on the same theme.
Project is also enriched by participation and creative contributions of students from USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.
The total result of project is over 200 posters and new media projects that will be exhibited in Sarajevo’s Collegium Artisticum gallery on June 16th; in Marseilles, France in July; presented in digital form during 13th International Poster Biennial in Mexico in October, and displayed in the MSU Department of Art and Design galleries in November 2014.
